How to open a new workbook in Excel 2013 (multiple examples)
As you know yourself and the standard Excel files have the extension 'xls' and 'xlsx'. These files are in fact a workbook in Excel. New workbook in Excel 2013 can open a many of ways.
- The first way to open a new workbook when you start Excel 2013. So start Excel 2013 and have a new workbook named Book1.
You need to enter data and record workbook.
If you already have a running Excel 2013 and we worked at it then a new workbook can be opened as follows:
- On the graphical toolbar for quick access click on the New icon (or press the key combination on your keyboard CTRL+N), which means that we create a new Excel document.

Open an existing workbook or an existing Excel document
If you want to open an existing workbook that was created in Excel, then it can be done in the following way.
The first way to open an existing document or an existing workbook from Excel 2013 can do so via the Open Other Workbooks when you start Excel 2013.
The next step is to choose a place where there is a workbook you want to open. So you see in the picture below where you can search for all your already created a workbook in Excel.
In principle, any option you chose appears a new window, where you can find a destination where the workbook you want to open. In case you do not remember where you saved your workbook, the same can be found by typing the name of the workbook in the search field. Just double-click the left mouse button on the found file, i.e. name and will open the workbook.
Another way of opening an existing workbook in Excel via the search field in the Windows operating system you are using. So in the Search field (on Windows 7), type the name of the workbook and when the system finds a double-click the left mouse button and will open the workbook (this may not work if your Windows is not indexed by the location where the file is located. So add location that Windows 7 indexes).
So in the search field, it is enough to enter the initial file name and the Windows 7 operating system will find the location where the file or workbook is located. Just double-click the left mouse button and will open the workbook.
If you have created a workbook in Excel 2013 and recorded or archived on the desktop of your Windows operating system then you can run the file from your desktop and open the workbook by clicking twice left mouse button on the icon and open the Excel workbook.
Opening multiple Excel workbooks (files) in a single step
If one go to open multiple workbooks (Excel files) then you on the dialog window for opening must select all Excel files that you want to open. Please select the first file and then press CTRL on your keyboard and hold it, then continue left mouse button please select other Excel files. When you have finished selecting all the Excel file then click the Open button.
How to open or create a new Worksheet in Excel
To open or create a new worksheet in Excel workbook, do the following:
Left-click on the 'plus sign' in a circle. The arrow number 2 in the image below. Now you have created a new worksheet is empty and no data.
If you want to open or create a new worksheet with a ready-made template, then right-click on the name of a worksheet that already exists and then the pop-up menu, choose the option Insert (see figure above the arrow number 1).
Opens a dialog box where you see the Insert two tabs (General and Spreadsheet Solutions). In this dialog box, you can choose to create a new worksheet that can be empty or one of the templates that already has an existing schema and data organization. Try you some of the variants.
